Well if it is 1970, it is not sandcast, that would be the 69. and only the early models. After that, they were diecast again.
So, if you have a 70, then you can get 70-73 to fit fine I think. Maybe even up to 76.

RE: 1970 air box help find

Lenny

Well the year on the tag only shows a 9 the rest is rubbed off but the clutch cover has 10 screws and the motor # is CB750E 1007414 after checking was told was sand cast- does that sound right?

Certainly the engine number is from the very earliest batch but I'm not sure that confirms it's a sand cast engine.  Do you know the original colour?  Are there slots on the leading edge of the side covers?

Are you absolutely certain ie personally checked it, that the engine number (not frame number) is 1007414?

The serial number is a sand cast number. Made in September, 1969. How close is the bike to original complete condition? Please post some pictures. As for your air box. Any factory air box will fit. Honda never changed them.
You know, I have always wanted to chop a sand cast

Not entirely true. the 77/78 were different. But I understand wanting a sandcast or year correct box.
You will spend a lot for it though. Maybe a 1970 box?
