1979 with no compression

I picked up a 1979 750. It appears the valves are stuck open. the bike has been off the road since 1986. When the cam is at it's lowest point there is a gap between the cam and the lifter. Is there a fix without removing the head? Is this common? Thanks in advance to all who try to help.

Take the valve covers off, and inspect for mechanical damage. Then try PB Blaster on the valves, and guides. It might take some time, but they might free up. Hope this does it, but a valve job is not very hard to do on these bikes.
