MC piston removed covered in gunk:

Caliper with piston frozen inside. I googled and found out about the grease gun trick, this worked great at removing the piston.

soaked caliper and MC in pinesol, cleaned with simple green, wet sanded with 1500 paper. most stuff came off:

bottom of MC has some pitted surface, is this a big deal ?
