1980 750K

This post was updated on .
this is my new to me 1980 750K. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Vg1v1xHijw&feature=plcp
right now i'm working on the front brakes.
take a look inside the MC reservoir.

MC and caliper are filled with disgusting old mud-like fluid.  the piston is corroded and shot in both. the caliper piston is frozen in. the brake hose seems OK but i'm getting a new one anyways with some pads. i'll keep the old pads and hose for backups.
i just Seafoamed the gas and she is running well, but i will be working on dialing the idle down a bit once it's warmed up.

Master Cylinder upon removal. Had to go buy some snap ring pliers:

MC piston removed covered in gunk:

Caliper with piston frozen inside. I googled and found out about the grease gun trick, this worked great at removing the piston.

piston removed. has some knicks out of it. i guess i will need to get a new one ?

soaked caliper and MC in pinesol, cleaned with simple green, wet sanded with 1500 paper. most stuff came off:

bottom of MC has some pitted surface, is this a big deal ?

need to get new rubber for caliper this is tired out:

the saga continues...

The pitting in the master cylinder is no big deal. Be careful with the sanding. It would not take much to sand it out of tolerance, and have it leak. I just use a brass wire wheel on my Dremel tool to clean mine.
