1980 CB750 Custom Restoration

LentzK
Hello,
Im new here and just stumbled upon this forum, like I stated in the subject I'm currently trying to rebuild my dad's old Honda CB750 Custom. I'm currently at a stand still and seeking advice; the bike is running but refuses to idle properly, to catch you up to date this is a list of what has been done to this point:
1)Oil filter change and oil change
2)Carb bank removal and though cleaning
3)Full spark plug replacement
4)Compression test with all cylinders reading 120PSI each
5)Used some carb cleaner to see if there were any leaks due to improper carb bank install.

So thats all that I can remember at the moment, like i said any help would be great!

Easy answer is to download the manual here and then use it to help clean the carbs.
Yes I know you said you already did it. Don't worry, many people never get them fully clean the first time.
A lot figure dipping the carbs or blowing with carb cleaner does the job. Nope. Not even close.
you have to pull all the jets and clean them all so they are spotless. All the passages need the same treatment. Everything needs to be clean enough where you would basically put your tongue on it.

I usually tell people to clean them like this once, and then do it a second time. Sounds like overkill but when you don't do it, you will sure know it.

Thanks for the advice, we took them out again but we also found that the part 10 in this schematic Carb schematic  has a slight burnish that makes the piston vacuum set stick, this is the only one of the four that is sticking, would that adversely affect the performance of the carb?

ALSO re running the compression test came up with 150 psi per cylinder (+/-) 5 psi

your comp should be just fine at 150. As for the burr, I don't know if it would matter but I would still smooth it like the rest. My common thinking is that sticking is bad unless the part is supposed to stick. I dont think anything in a carb should.
