So I finally tore down the bike last weekend to get the carbs out for rebuild/bench sync.
And it was obviously dirty/gunked up on the outside with a not so bad interior. I read through the other carb cleaning article and the bank is now soaking in Pine Sol.
Here posted is the condition of cylinder 1 rubber boot. It took me a while to pull all 4 out cuz they were all hard and stuck to the cylinder. The one pictured below also chipped out a small pieces of rubber while I was pulling it out.
What do you guys think? Would you recommend reconditioning and reusing them? These boots are now being soaked in glycerin, a day of soaking has softened the rubber a little, but will still hurt if I smack with it on someone's head
OR should I go ahead and buy a new set (they are about $70 a set on ebay I believe)
Please see image below, this spring exists between carb 2 and 3. looks like its broken, not sure what it does either. Anything I need to be worried about?
Also, I am considering switching to PODS for a more cleaner look. I don't ride often and I don't ride hard, I need something that will perform decently and will putter along. What do you guys recommend?
I might just redo the rewiring too, but I will ask that question in a different post may be :D
Any links with your replies would be great!
Thanks yall.
