1980 cb750 carburetor

Tooler
Im a new Honda owner and new to the forum but I figured this is the best place to get a question answered...I need a "new" carburetor for my 1980 cb750 and all I can really find are 1981 and 1982 cb750 carbs are they interchangeable on all of the first gen DOHC models or only certain years, or not at all?
Thanks!

They'll all work.  Slight differences between some years, but every DOHC carb will work for you.

If you are getting new carbs anyway, you might want to look into some "good" carbs, as a lot of people have a poor opinion of the stock CV carbs.

Stockers are essentially good for every day riding, but if you want a high performance ride you should look into mikuni's.  That said, you'll likely need to spend someone in the neighbourhood of $700-$900 for them, so that might be more than you spent on the whole bike.

Stock CV carbs can be found for much cheaper.

I've read that the stock ones aren't bad if you get a jet kit for them, especially since I'm planing on running pods and choping the exhaust and running straight pipes(4-1 with kerker exhaust now)...I think I might upgrade the carburetor in the future but I couldn't find any after market carbs, is there a website you could direct me to?

I've read just the opposite over and over again. Reportedly, these bikes run like poop if you try those mods on the stock carbs... that's why the Sudco CR's amd Mikuni swaps are so popular.

Ya, that.  I've heard that it's possible to get the bike running "ok" with pods on these CV carbs, but there will be a performance decrease that is noticeable.

I know that there are some guys that say they can do it, but when you dig into you find out that it really only runs well at WOT, or there are flat spots somewhere, or some other issue.
