Another option would be to check with lpm. They are listed in our online parts section. Still expensive but good quality and you paint it to your color.

Yeah, I guess so. Average price is about $50/side on EBay as of 0900EDT on 16Jun2011. I recently sold a pair to another user of this forum for $40 for the pair. Guess he got a good deal, eh? :-)

LPM, like every other company, go figure why, only makes them for F's and K's, nothing for Custom

I'm probably not the only one with a missing side cover...what is your replacement solutions to hide that hole?? I'm thinking 2 oval license plate, a bit like those WWII bikes or like the number on the side of old dirt bikes...or maybe a simple triangular shaped metal plate bolted to the upper horizontal frame rail, just below the tank. If i find a side cover at a decent price, good, but i'm not looking to have a stock looking bike anyways so a replacement solution is more than welcome!
* sorry for my not perfect english, i'm french :)

Make a cover out of leather. I have seen it done. Looks really cool TOOLS

Of leather? How? Since its not rigid, just cut it the size and shape wanted and fix it to the frame? Like a big leather triangle? Thats what you mean?

There was a guy on here a while ago making them. Anyone remember anything? They weren't the kind of thing I want to put on my bikes but if you don't want a stock bike, maybe you would be ok with them

I heard of him on every motorcyle forum that exist, found his email. His stuff looks ok but in the UK, i'm in Canada. Long way, makes it expensive... I'll probably try something with sheet metal, cut to fit along the frame, triangular shape, like on old dirt bikes. Will see

You could do that with some diamond plate steel or aluminum if you want to save weight.

Exactly what i was thinking of. Shouldnt be too complicated to draw and cut with cardboard then replicate on metal sheet.

Yea just cut out the shape, and attach it to the frame with leather ties, or strips. Could even do a cool design on it.

Yeah sorry, i started advertising that i was making these covers to order as there seemed to be a market for them.. But was sadly mistaken. Hey ho we live and learn..
|
|
Hmm, I have a pair of side covers laying in the garage.
Reading this thread makes me think I should sell them
