1981 cb 750 fork seal change

merrick3k
Hi, i was wondering what you need to do in order to replace the seals on air assisted forks because it is not the same as the regular ones. I have done everything but the fork tube will not come out of the case. Any advise will be greatly appreciated.

The only difference between the air assisted forks on the DOHC bikes, and the non air assisted forks on the SOHC bikes is that the air assisted forks have bushings, and air. To remove the tube you just pull on it like a slide hammer. It will eventually knock the bushing loose, and bring the seal out with it. Then to assemble it you first insert the tube, then tap the bushing down in, and follow with the new seal. Don't forget the locking clip over the seal.

Thanks a lot, and when adding the oil is it all the same? Measure it out and pour it down the fork tube?

Yes just measure it out, and pour it down. Honda uses Automatic Transmission Fluid in their forks though.
