1981 cb750F SS

hondacb750f
Hello again every one.  I am finally out of working two jobs and doing minimum over time at the one I have. SO I can devote more time to fixing my bike.  I know I have been off and on this site for a couple years so I will recap,   1981 cb750f ss,   If I did everything right It is all back to stock.

Ok so here goes it may sound like babble But I will do my best for it not to.

While cleaning my carbs,  the number four jet holder would not come out. I tried and tried. ANd I was gentle. but to no avil. so I looked into it. and the jet holder had been broken.  I am thinking from p/o cause this was the first time I have opened them up.

I ordered four new jets and used holders.   I had to tap and dye out the old holder,  I know this is bad. I used very small bits. When I got it out, it was really messed up. I mean way more damage then what I could have done.

SO I blew it out to make sure they was not shreds left in it's place.   Inserted the new holder it went in fine and tight.

It is starting and running fine Carbs are as balanced as I can get them.

Would this cause the number 4 not to fire?  It has good spark. finger compression test fuel coming from bottom of bowl fast.  clean gas, coils omhed correctly. switch coil wires and still nothing just one dead cyclender.  IT has also recently started a tapping sound.

I have the manul off of here, as well as the factory paper manual. I can't believe I was able to track it down.  They both list problem solving for not firing and tapping. but not for just one cyclinder.  I did do every thing suggested.

thanks every one in advance I know have the time to be more committed to the site and bike.

Billy

From what you said about switching wires, and fuel in the bowel, I would say that the pilot jet circuit on No#4 is still plugged.

On the sohc, #1 &4 run off the same coil and fire at the same time. If the dohc is like this, swap the plugs and wires and see if the problem moves. Since they fire from the same coil, I would figure this should work.
Yes, the DOHC bikes share the same setup.

Totally missed that you swapped wires. Lesson 1, don't post when half asleep!

Yeah since it didn't move, something is likely plugged up still. Did you try a different plug though? When you switched wires, did you switch the plug as well? If it was just the wire, the plug may be dead? Not common but it can happen.

I would still check the fuel level though.

Kind of embarrest here folks but here's the deal,

After I posted this message I realized, I let my friend practice his synching skills on the Honda. I never paid to much attention because I bought this bike as a "to work on and learn bike"  Well I went out there and pulled the carb top off and sure as I am typing he had the piece closed  coming from the carb and going to the cylinder. So I opened it back up and  I will have to re synch it.  but now she is firing like she should.  video be up Monday or Tuesday and I ask all of you opinions so I can get it right. thank you all so much.

I did search the site prior to posting this.
