newtothis
I have read a lot on here and other places about air box vs. the pods. Since i bought it with the pods i decied to give it a go.I lost, just ordered the air box off ebay.
Not to long ago i downloaded the manul how ever i see it to be no help,  will some one please explain the easy way to put  this back on. Such as should i come in frome the left or right? also which vac line goes where?

i guess it will take a week to ten days to get here, after this is done then i will be opening the tranny, i have adjusted  the clutch the best i can, how ever when i release it, it makes a sound, when i pull it in the sound stops.

this is my winter priority,  currently i want to get it running smooth. new box, new plugs, and oil change,

also i am looking for a new gas tank, pin holes every where in this one. i has tank sealr on some and jb weld on some. i am looking for a coffin tank please keep me in mind..

again you all have been so helpfull here i thank you all

I'm guessing that once you have the airbox in your hands it will all be fairly common sense.
Take the carbs off your engine before putting the airbox in. Once you have it behind the engine, just move it back toward the rear of the bike. You will see that its contours fit right in with the frame.

Now that you know how it fits, I find it easiest to disconnect the crankcase breathers at the top before installation (the 2 rubber tubes) and fix them on the 2 engine vents (left one is in a little hole near the oil fill plug).

Now just slide it back, connect your vents, and tighten the one bolt at the top that holds it in place -it goes through the top of the frame in a little slider slot just behind the gas tank bolt.

You will also need the spring that holds the filter to the box.

Does your box have the side cover?

looking at the pictures, there is a square hole on the side where something belongs, with two screw holes at the same spot to hold a cover in, or what ever belongs there, i will not know about the srping untill it gets here

I find that unbolting the battery holder and moving it backwards makes  it very easy to add breather box.  4 bolts under the seat

I dont think that will work, I would say just cut a piece of solid plastic to the size of the door and attach the plastic to the airbox using the stock screw locations.

ok, good news the air box came into day, i feel pretty comfterable with it. It does need a cleaning i am assuming good warm water will do the trick. I did get the manual from here, it helped a bit but left room for questions. Holding it in place looks to be rather easy just the bolt/hinge piece should do the trick. I am glad it came with the box.

My plan is to attempt to install it this week end. mainly saterday ...pending the rain. how ever the diagram on the side is very faded and hard to read.  I have a hose coming up from the two sides (about mid range) on my motorcycle. one  i know is oil and the other is a vacum. the book would not tell me where they connect to the air box.

there are three nipples on the air box, i assume the one over the carbartor side goes to the tee inbetween the carbs. because it is to big to fit the one coming from the diaframe. the two in the back i am not sure of thou,  they are smaller then the one in the front, but about exqual size.

in the manual it looks like there is a small box that mounts to this air box, if i am right maybe  oil and vacum lines mention above attach to that and not the box,  i beleave  it connects via the phillip screw that is on the right side of the box, faceing it from the back( non carb side)  i am also guessing i can make something in lieu of the spring to hold the filter,  since i was asked on here if i had one, i have been looking for one and have not been abl to find one.

thank you all for you help

Beekeeper
The 2 black hoses mid-crankcase actually connect to a "T", that then plugs into the airbox at the top.  The black vent hose from the plastic "T" between the carbs goes into the clip at the top of the airbox and remains open to atmosphere.  There is a nipple on the back of the airbox that connects to a storage box that is below the battery holder.  The opposite side of the storage box has a hose with a plug that you drain based on the riding conditions you most often see.  I don't remember any other connections on the airbox, other than the tubes to the carbs.
