1981 cb750k fairing/headlight question

knows_nothing
Hello,

I just bought an old cb750k that has a vetter fairing on the front and was thinking about taking it off. I know I'll need turn signals and that the headlight needs to be changed. My question is, do I need a whole new headlight, or just a new bracket to mount the old one in? Thanks.

I see you have no answers to your post , and I have no actual knowledge in this area of the bike , but you should check out the DOHC forum as well. -- A few of the guys there have fairings , and are plenty willing to welcome new members as well as give good advice . -- WWW.CB750C.COM -- Check it out if you'd like . -- Otto

The vetter replaces everything.
You will most likely need to get a headlight unit, mounts and turn signals.

You will need a new light can, mounting bracket, and turn signals from what I can see. I have a Honda Fairing and love it but I need a few trim pieces. If you end up parting out the fairing I would be interested in buying a ventilator and the exterior vent grille for the left side.

The vetter and honda parts may not work together.

Rerun, can you tell by the image in my signature which I have? I have the original owner's instruction book for the fairing and it is identified as a Hondaline fairing but everyone I have spoken to insists it was manufactured by Vetter. The owner's instruction book says it is the same fairing for a CB750F, 750K, 650Custom, and CX500 Deluxe Custom.

Tell everyone they might be wrong. Hondaline fairings were made by more than 1 manufacturer. Yes vetter was one of them but the hondaline I do not think followed any vetter designs.

I'll look at the model number and stuff when I take it off, I know it was made by vetter. As far as I am concerned you can have the whole thing if you pay for shipping, the previous owner drilled a few holes and mounted a stereo with equalizer on it. The stereo was in pieces when I bought it though and there is one crack on the bottom of the right side. I will see about posting a picture if I can.

Took the Vetter off my 1980 and just mounted new headlight bracket and turn signal from a 79 that
didn't have one works fine.

Ebay and craigslist. You never know what you find on craigs but then it is no more a gamble than ebay.

Unfortunately I will be out of town for the next few month. Let me know if you get one otherwise I'll send you pics when I get back. It has seen better days, but is still functional and I wouldn't expect much more than shipping cost for it. I might even trade it for a headlight fixture if you have an extra.

Hello Bobby-I have a Vetter Windjammer Fairing-& luggage rack with back rest for the passenger-that is perfect showroom condition from my 1980 CB750 Custom that only has 3,672 miles on it(FAIRING DATED fEB5, 1980).  It came from the factory and matches the bike which is dark purple-with matching pinstripes.  No scratches-radio perfect(am/fm)-it is like new.  I just am trying to find out about the harness if I need to have a different wiring harness to switch it to regular headlight?  My email is:  blakespice@yahhoo.com if you haven't found a fairing yet?

Hey guys.... I am a new member of the forum and
I have a 1981 cb750 custom and I took the fairing off
And I already got the headlight and bucket and ready to
put on the bike, I also got the brackets for the forks but
After installing them I see now the light is not going to go
on because there is a black box in the way between the forks
what do I do???  I wanted to get the light on to take my little
Girl for a ride for her birthday on the 18th
