1982 Honda custom fork issue

billpowellaka
Hi Everyone...
I am at  loss..:/ I purchased a 82 cb 750 about a month ago... I knew it would probly  need the carb cleaned and synchronized..I  did all that and took it for a ride only to find out the the forks were loose the wheel was going to the left and the handle bars were strait...Odd i have never notice bolts on the forks like these...Two at the top two at the bottom...After i tightened them down the bike seemed to go strait but i am not for sure it rode exactly strait now i am wondering if the bike is a total loss...Or do i just tighten the forks till it ride perfectly strait...Thank you...

I'm not quite sure what you are asking here. Are you talking about the bolts on the triple tree?

I don't know what you're talking about either.  Pics?

Either way, bike is definitely not a total loss if this is the only problem.  Worst case you need to replace the front end.

Yes ... This is my first experience with the triple tree... I have only been working on bikes for about 6 months... Do you just tighten the top and bottom until the wheel lines up straight??

Tightening the bolts only clamps the fork tubes, it does not adjust anything. The forks must be straight in the trees before tightening the clamps.
