3 turns out?

FastCletus
just got the MAC 4 into 1 pipe.  Had some issues on previous post with install, but back in business now.  No other mods have been done on my CB750 F 1980, and now I am trying to dial in fuel screw settings.

What is a base line to follow?  3 turns out on each carb?  how do you adjust those screws being you cant really see underneath the banks, and you cant get a screw driver in there to determine how many tunrs you made?

Get a small screw driver and paint a mark on it.
You count the number of turns.

3 turns out would be excessive in most cases and
the screw may be in danger of falling out.
I would go out 2 turns max.

Old indian Trick....

The BEST screw driver is a small screw driver that comes
free in a package of Duracell batteries. The handle looks like a duracell battery.
The screw driver can be turned end for end and has a flat blade and a phillips.

Found an old eye glass screwdriver that work temporarlily.  2 out seems to be going in the right direction.  I was three threads out before.
Now my question is which way do i go?  out or in?  and in what incraments?  1/2?  1 whole?

gently take them all the way in, seat them, then count the turns out.

i'm not sure, but i think with pods you go way out, like 4 turns on a dohc.

mine were like that, 4 out, and was on pods, but the airbox was reinstalled
and it seems like 1.5 out on all 4 works.

keep us posted on what you do would ya?

Hoosier Daddy
In a nutshell,You need either a sensitive tach or a damn good ear. Take the screws to 1 1/2 out then slowly take each one out 1/4 or 1/2 turn until the idle speed quits rising, then slowly in until it drops, then back out to it's final set point... must repeat this process on each carb one at a time.
Bitch of it is, the engine must be at opperating temp.... so you will need some gloves.

I ended up buying the carb tool.  Found it on ebay for 20 bucks and free shipping.  Yeah I might only use it once, but what the heck if it makes this tune easier I am game.  It should arrive on Thursday so hopefully i Can ride this saturday or sunday.  Thanks for help

I have found it easier to pull the cover off of the starter (for vertical room) then just use a short screw driver.

tried your method. removing cover does add some space, but still a bitch to see with your hand up there.  Think I will just wait for my tool.  Cof course I need to get the new problem taken care of now, which is "why is cyl 2 and 3 not firing??  then I can fix carbs

Might be a carb problem keeping 2-3 from firing. I once fought a number 2 cylinder not firing until 3K RPM. Turned out that the carb sync was off.
