75 cb750f blowing fuses, need help.

humperdink
Hello, new member, have been pouring through your posts trying to shed some light on my issue, but no progress.  recently got my honda back from storage in the parents basement for 5 years or so.  ran great for about 500 miles or so and then it quit.   any suggestions are much appreciated.

heres the symptoms:

tail light fuse blows immediately upon turning key.
fuse does not blow if tail light bulb is removed.
brake light and signals work fine.
if key is turned while the bulb is removed the red wires along with the brown/blue and brown/white  at the fuze box get hot .  brown blue begins to melt connectors and smoke at the junction box in front of the engine/behind the forks, both where it meets the single brown blue connection and then the connector with the 3 black wires.
same can be said if the tail light fuse is removed instead.

seems like a short in brake light side because the red wires dont head up with the tail light fuse removed.

i have a wiring diagram and understand how to read it but dont understand circuitry well enough to figure out what is going on.  i have torn apart most of the wiring harness anywhere the brown/blue and red wire going to the ignition switch can touch and anything with red brown or black wires going to the headlight bucket to try and find bare wires and found nothing suspicious.  the reason i followed that red wire to the switch is because i detached the connector at the fuse box and get a high voltage reading that fluctuates if i touch one probe to the brown blue connector and one to the unsheathed red wire connector--made me think i may have a short there.

also if i touch the red sheathed wire in the fuse box connector and the engine i get a beep while testing for continuity...same if i follow that wire to the solenoid--that seemed wrong to me too--then again this is my first big wiring tackle and this giant circuit confuses me.

bike history:  bike was givin to me free by my uncle when i first started riding.  my dad wanted me on a new bike for better braking and weight balance and whatnot.  bought a vulcan 500 then a c90 and recently sold the c90.  got my honda back and now here i am.

heres the wiring diagram im looking at:

Definitely sounds like a short somewhere. All you can do is be patient and sort through it one wire at a time. Sorry I cant help more.Hopefully someone smarter than me can figure it out.
