'76 Cub 750k - First time buyer - Am I making mistake?

I talked this guy down to 1850. Is it even worth that? He says there is a bunch of new parts in it (below) But check out the rust on the chain and shocks. This will be my very first bike. Could this be a mistake buying it?

- New wire harness
- New throttle cables
- New clutch cable
- New front tire and tube
- New brakes front & back
- Rebuilt front caliper & rear drum
- Rebuilt carbs
- New carbs jets
- Carbs synced
- New spark plugs
- New accel hi-output coils and wires
- 4-1 exhaust w/ white exhaust wrap
- New clubman bars (proper size)
- New white Italian grips
- New battery
- New points

He says "The mileage on the bike said 50,xxx but I know the person before me changed the motor with one that was rebuilt. "

  I'm not one to spend some one's $ ,but for less then 2k and you get a great running bike ,looks great,
 you say it's been rebuild ,why is the person selling ? do you know them? probly not if on C.
 My 1st year 750 $ was my limit,second yr no more then 2k total,but will have a big rebuild done.
   Winters here for most riding ,prices will come down , you just have to have the cash and time to get 1st.                         Good Luck ...................nice find

Its hard to put a price on elbow grease,and that is what you are buying here.Even though it is not a full on custom,there has been a lot of time spent on that bike.$100 will buy you a new pair of shocks and $60-70 will get you a real nice chain(cafe's need a gold chain)
   If i was in love with the bike and its looks,and knew that it was going to be a dependable bike,then i would get it.The price may be a little high for a '76 model motorcycle,but you have to consider the whole.These bikes in general are extremely easy to work on and maintain,and not very expensive,either.Parts are easy to get,but they are reliable in the first place.That one is cheaper than many other cafe's i have seen for sale of the same caliber.
   It all boils down to what its worth to you.New shocks and a new chain and you are looking at a very nice cafe for right at $2k.  I'd say not bad.But only if you are gonna leave it as is.   If you want to "make it your own",then get a cheaper bike and invest your time and money on what your particular tastes are.  Personally,i think its a great looking bike.
