'77 CB750K caliper question

McMaleus
Hey guys...

I'm looking for the caliper rebuild kit.  I found a ton of them for the '77 750F but none for the K model.  I know the F is different from the K but why is the K so hard to find?

Was it the same exact brake for the '75 and/or '76, ie, can I just use that?

Thanks guys!

Is there a reason for the rebuild kit? Is your piston really corroded and pitted? If not, the square o-ring is all you really need and honda should still have those. That is about all you need to the caliper. If you need a piston, you can find them on ebay. Get the phenolic style if you can.

I have rebuilt several, and never needed to replace the O-ring. I just clean the grove, and the inside of the caliper with a brass wire wheel on my dremel tool. Do not use a hone on these. Also I have only once replaced a piston. Got it from ebay. Was pricy, but a very nice product.

I replaced mine as it was the original and almost 30 years old at the time. The new one was under $3 when I got it so it didn't hurt the wallet too much.

Thanks guys!  I actually just got the bike a few weeks ago.  My dear old Dad was nice enough to go pick it up for me (in Toronto).  I live in Montreal so I actually haven't even seen her in person yet.  I'll likely just take the caliper apart and hope a good cleaning will work.  It just seized apparently, most likely cause it's been sitting for a while.

When you go to remove the piston, take off the caliper and squeeze the lever to pop it out into a bunch of paper towels.

But that is not as much fum as using an air compressor, and blowing it through the garage window.
