78 CB750 Accelerator Pump Boot

KRANK
Does it matter which way the accelerator pump boot goes on and does it just slip over the accelerator pump stem after the pump is installed or does it go on the inside?

Thanks for the help

The boot slides up from the bottom of the hole in the carb before the float bowel is installed. then lube up the pump shaft, and slide it up in.

One end of the boot has a formed "O" ring on the end and that end has to fit in the recess machined into the carb body.

The Matics (76-78), and the 77-78 SOHC bikes had the keyhole carbs with the pump.

Better take it apart and find out what is going on. It does sound bent.
The shaft on the diaphram should be straight ,no bends. Just goes
straight up to where it contacts the throttle mechanism.
