My early comstars are stamped 'Tubeless Tire Applicable". You should be able to run a tubeless tire on any solid aluminum wheel, such as yours. The reason for tubes in spoke wheels is because the nipples that the spokes thread into are not an air tight seal.

Yea thats what I was thinking. That will be cool to run tubeless in there. Maybe I can get a cooler looking tire on there.

Good news...All the carbs are now sealed :) Also the bike is dialed in except of course like all projects. I had a wire give way it looks like. More digging on that tomorrow. Pretty sure thats the issue. But once I get new wires on this thing ill be looking at tires and then of course bearings while i am there then just some brake work and ill be ready to rock. Maybe get one month of riding :)

Any suggestions of brand and model of tire? I do not want to spend to much money for tires but I am not going to cheap out on it.

Thanks in advance

I reeeeeeally like my Shinko 712's. Real soft tire that grips really good, but seems to wear good also. I only have a little under 4,000 miles on mine, but they show no signs of wear at all. They are also one of the cheapest tires you can buy. Smooth, quiet and handle well over tar snakes and cracks in the road. Love 'em! I won't buy anything else until they stop selling them.

Thanks for the heads up on them. They do look really good. If my local dealer has them I will get them.

Cool. One word of advice. When I changed to these tires I had to get used to the steeper profile of them. With my previous tires, cornering required you to have to push the bike down to turn it seems. With the Shinko's it just falls into a turn. It's not severe or anything, but it will be a different feel, depending on what you have on there now. The bike might feel a little twitchy for the first few curves, but before long you'll get used to how it just WANTS to lean. Im 225 lbs and 38 psi seems to work perfect in them. Good luck with whatever you decide to put on your bike

lol well i have only rode this bike maybe half mile total since i have had it so far. the tires that are on there are junk. cracked dry rotted you name it. looks like i would have to order these tires anyway. hopefully i will get a chance tonight to fix that plug wire and run it through the gears once or twice to make sure it doesnt have any more mechanical problems. after that ill be ordering bearings and tires. hoping i can get by with the chain and sprockets on there til next season. help save some cash up then go to town on it this winter :)

Well looks like i wont be riding this year after all. After fixing all the other crap with this thing it runs beautifully. that is until the thing heats up and then i start loosing compression in cylinder 4. It was running at about 90 psi when the engine was warmed up.

So valves or piston ring. Anyone run into a situation like this before?
