'81 Honda CB750 Float needles

honda_newbie
Quick question before I go out and buy new float needles.  Does the cold weather affect the float needles in a way that would cause them to act a bit wonky or just downright fail?

My 2 and 3 carbs have have been spilling gas and it happened the first day with carb 2 and then the next day with carb 3.  Took it apart to find out that neither 2 or 3 are 'floating' properly and causing the issue.

If you have rubber tipped needles I suppose the cold weather could have caused them to become hard and not seal. Doubt it would affect the floats though.
