81 cb750c

  just got 81 cb750c drained battery and died.took to shop ,not charging put after market stator,charged 12.2 was told to drive it went 35 miles died.Told no parts availible said i needed whole  stator assembly rotor brushes ? New  to this site any sugestions

Many shops have no clue what they are talking about as most of the mechanics are younger than our bikes.
Download the manual here and it will outline how to perform tests on the system to trace what your issue is.
Could just be a bad battery. Could be the regulator/rectifier is shot. The stator you have may not be hooking up correctly or the rotor could be bad. Heck, it could just be dirty grounds.

Thanks for the info bike has 14140 orig. miles has set alot it runs strong and is a very clean bike.Had one just like it when i was 17, can i get a after market rotor?

You might be able to but it wont be easy.
I would first try davidsilverspares.com or .co.uk it may be.
Check things out first though to make sure you actually need one.

i went through the same couple yrs. ago and it was the rotor went through 3 used ones the wire winding would seem to brake or over heat then bought a new one for 130.00 and fixed the prob.  i had talked to other people that had the same problem over time the heat and RPM ,s make them come apart
