81 cb75p dash/lights work but engine will not turn over

Zulu_94
Hey, new to the site and motorcycles in general. Had to get a new set of keys made for my 81 cb750 due to me losing my last one. So i removed my ignition switch to bring to a locksmith to get a new set. I re-installed my ignition switch then when i turned the key and went to go start it, it seemed fine until I pressed the starter button. The headlight shut off and the engine starter didnt even budge. All the rest of my lights remained on as well as my gague back lights and neutral light. Bike was running perfectly about two weeks ago before i lost my key. I have no idea what changed in these two weeks.

Did the plastic part of the ignition switch come apart when you removed it from the bike? The other thing to check would be the starter solenoid, and does your battery have enough charge to crank the engine.
