Unless your area is perfectly flat your bike will struggle at that rpm at 60 mph. 5k rpms doesnt phase these engines. They are made to rev and they do well with it.

For what it's worth, I cruise 60 mph at 6k rpm. Rock and roll....

Yep, just get used to it. As is typical with inline 4s, power comes on in midrange to upper rpm. Low rpms barely have anything. You can get a set of cb900 cams to drop in and that will perk things up a little but they are still made to rev.
The ride IS the adventure. The destination is just to get gas!

Think of this way. 5000 RPM is about half way to the redline. 60 MPH is about half way to the bike's rated top speed, which is ~125 MPH. So if you're cruizing at 5000 RPM and at 60 MPH, you are only half way into the bike's maximum limits. That engine isn't stressed at all by running at 50% of its maximum.

If you're getting a buzz in your handle bars, which bothers you, look into getting some bar end weights. These well quel the vibration.

My son would routinely rev his CB550 up to 9000 (and higher) just to hear it roar in a tunnel or when downtown.  My other son's 250 Ninja redlines at 14000.  Mean little roar to these bikes when you do that.

Every once in a while, I'll goose the throttle on my Shadow to 7000-8000.  Fun stuff.  You think it'll fly apart, but they hold up well.
