From what I've read on another CB750 forum, pod filters are never going to work properly, no matter what. I would suggest you put the standard airbox on it, and move on from there (e-Bay, junk yards, etc.). Check the valve clearances, which means the shims, first, and foremost. Then start working on the jets, and sync'ing the carbs. There is a lot of information available on this, and another forum, as mentioned before. Here is a link to the other site:

On the other site, they seem to tell, ad nauseum, about adjusting the idle mix screws(?) to 2.5-3 turns out, only. Check their information carefully, as I may have the wrong screw. Sorry. Cheers!
