'99 750 Nighthawk engine in '79 CB750

Hey,

So I'm new here because I've been trying to research a question I had and haven't found an answer yet:

I bought a 79 cb750k that I plan to strip down and sort of give it a cafe/brat look and feel. The engine it had only runs on two cylinders right now and before I rebuild the carbs and check ignition and everything else that could be an issue, I want to find out if I could put a newer model's engine into my frame. I have a buddy with a wrecked 99 750 nighthawk that runs that he'll sell me cheap and I'm trying to find out if I could use the engine?

Has anybody done anything like this? I'm sure I'll have to stiffen the frame due to the extra power, but I don't really want to mess around too much with redoing the mounts because tbh I'll probably make them crooked.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Well, given enough time and money, you could probably do it, but I seriously doubt it is a bolt in job.

What damage does the 99 have? Sometimes bikes will be totaled for insurance purposes but need little work to get in order.
The ride IS the adventure. The destination is just to get gas!
