I went to adjust the valves on my buddies 76 CB 750 A today, and came across something that I come across all too often, and it just burns me up!!!!!!!!!
To start with the valves were way too loose. Some were .006 or more (I did not try to slide any more feeler gauges in after that.) Anyway here is my real gripe, the locking nuts on the adjuster were so tight that I could not break them loose with my adjusting tool. I had to use an extra long Snap-On 10mm wrench, and really bear down on it to break them loose. I don't know why people think they need to bear down on them with a 1/2 inch breaker bar.
They only need to be snug!!!!!! The handle on my adjusting tool is only 4 inches long, and gives all the leverage needed to tighten them.
