Air Cleaner Housing

jamman18
My 1977 CB750 air cleaner housing has been sitting for a while and I was trying to remove the bottom of the housing so I could access the filter but one of the bolts is not unscrewing. I think it is stuck in the metal insert that it screws into on the bottom half of the housing. Any ideas how I can get it loose?

Well, it isn't going to be a good time. The bottom bolt sits in the plastic and can strip out easy. I would use a dremel and cut a slot into the head of that bolt. That way you can use a flathead screwdriver to hold the bolt while you turn the top head.

Another option is to weld a nut onto that bottom head for a wrench. Mine has that from before I even got the bike. Kinda ugly but it works and isn't easy to see.
The ride IS the adventure. The destination is just to get gas!

I see the head of the nut. Will charge up the Drexel and try that tomorrow.  Thanks!
