Anyone got a head?

dave Esch
I got the motor out of the 76 K last night (again). I took the valve cover off and couldn't believe my eyes. Somehow, ssoooommmeehhooooowwwww, while replacing some the valvetrain hardware, a nut was left behind. I must've checked it over three times before putting the valve cover on. I should've checked a fourth time. The #4 rocker arm came down on the nut and split the head wide open. That explains the random misfire condition I had during the startup. So now I am in the market for a head. 76 750k sohc. I don't think I need the valvetrain parts, I am hoping to get away with just the head. I also don't think the crack can be repaired, but maybe one of you knows different. Once I get the cam assembly out, I'll post some pics. Right now I am rather disgusted so I will be taking a week or so off from working on it. Cheers.

Oh holy crap. Terrible news! Well, I don't have a head but you can use any K head from 71-76 if I remember correctly. So you at least have a wider search range.

Man that sucks I just put "CB 750 Head" into an ebay search, and came up with over 200 heads. Ranging in price from $19.99 to $175.00. Most were about $40.00-$75.00.

That's odd. I didn't see anything but about 18 bikes on ebay. Maybe I wasn't in parts and accessories. I'll check again. The shop that was going to adjust my carbs, he is confident that since the crack is on a flat between the valves and not on a sealing surface that he can weld it. I need to take it apart and bring it to him. I'll keep ya posted.

Yeah, I find if you just put in cb750, it pulls up ebay motors and you get bikes but no parts.

Though, that would be great if it can be welded.

Hey Dave Did you find a head? If not I just got one the other day I would let go of.
