Barn find

tonycan
Hey everyone,
I'm new to this so forgive me if I mess up or I'm not in the right forum. I haven't had a bike in years but I ran across a 1976 CB750K stuffed in the back of a garage. Made a deal with the owner and brought it home. It has not been started in 10 years, but the engine does turn over. The carbs are pretty gunked up so I checked ebay for kits and pretty much found kits for every 750 but the '76. Have I bought the lemon of the 750 line or are there other places to look. The carbs are keihin.  Thanks T

No, you have not bought a lemon! Any carb kit from 70-76 will work, however most of the time kits are not needed. Just float bowel gaskets, and the O-rings on the fuel tubes. The float bowel gaskets can be gotten from Z1 Enterprises, and the O-rings can be gotten at most any well stocked auto parts store. They are 10mm X 2mm X 6mm.

Thanks Tools,
The carbs will need kits however because the jets and valves are clogged. Unless there is a mircale cleaner out there. I've tried the carb cleaner from the auto parts store.

You can unplug jets pretty easily by cleaning them.  Run a thin guitar e-string through them followed by a blast of carb cleaner (make sure you're wearing eye protection).

This is a standard practice on these carbs.

Thanks sees, didn't think of guitar strings. I guess they are pretty stiff wire.
