Brake Lights on all the time

cb750k603
I have an 82 CB750K.  My brakes lights are illuminated (indicating stopping) all the time. When I press either the foot or hand brake, the illuminated light stays on (no change).

Anyone have any thoughts before I proceed with trouble shooting?

Thanks.

Do you have a switch the connects to the rear brake lever? If so, this switch gets rusty and does not work right. Also, check the switch under the brake lever to make sure the switch them is not broke.

I am guessing here as I do not have a manual for your bike but that is how my 78 is.
The ride IS the adventure. The destination is just to get gas!

I`m willing to bet its the brake return spring from the rear brake pedal. Either cut it and put another hook on it or replace it with something similar. I`ve yet to hear of the front brake lever being the guilty culprit. once ther rear spring is rectified the problem will have been solved

Thank you to both rerun and gonebiking for responding.

I must have hit the rear brake light adjustment switch when I dropped the swing arm to replace the chain/sprockets. (I had no way to cut the chain, so I had to drop the swing arm).

A simple adjustment of the the switch cured the problem.
