Buying a CB 750

trig06
Just seen a cracking CB750 in a dealers for £1495, on a M plate with 21k on the clock.  It looks immaculate and assume it has been garaged for most of its life.

Having been away from biking for a 'few years' and always been a Honda man, 200 Benly, 250 Super Dream Honda 400/4, what are the things I should be looking for in a bike of this age that might cause problems the bike is being sold by a dealer on P/X to clear basis, ie no warranty so want to be sure I'm not getting a pup!

Any tips most welcome...

I think you must be in the UK. What year is M?  I've lived in the US for 10 years and lost track a long time ago.

So, I was correct about the UK.  Sorry but this bike is much too new for me, and a lot of people on the site I think.

Well looking for 1 bike is the same as another no matter the year. The 95 should still be in good shape though with good paint. The rubber bits should all be ok aside from tires. Check those for any sort of cracking or checking. If the person has good maintenance records that is great but ask to hear the bike run. If possible, take it for a short test spin up and down the street to check the gears and smoothness of the motor.
I have to remind myself that a 95 is 16 years old when my bike is already 17 years older!

I have a manual for your year that I need to get online yet.
The ride IS the adventure. The destination is just to get gas!

Sorry if my post was seen in a negative light.  It certainly wasn't meant that way but I can see I could have worded it better.  I certainly didn't intend to speak for anyone else or put anyone off what is an excellent forum.
