CB 750 Rear Sprocket Carrying Hub Studs

JonathanHValencia
I got a rear and front sprocket spacer on my CB750K to run a wider rim and tire from Cognito Moto. When I go to put the nuts, the studs are too short after the spacer is on. Anybody ever encounter this? If so, what’s the remedy ? Can I thread out the studs on the hub and rethread some in?

Thanks in advance!

You could do that, but the best way to Move the chain and sprocket out is to use offset sprockets from Cycle-X. The way you are doing it is going to put a lot of stress on the studs. Another thing worth mentioning is the fact that all 77 (K-7) and later CB 750's had the sprockets spaced further out than the earlier models.

You double nut them. Put two nuts on a stud and then tighten the nuts together. Then you can turn the stud out by turning the inside nut. You might need to use some heat to get them out. If they do not come with the double nuts, you can weld a nut to the stud.

Makes sense. I put two nuts, the top nut stabilizes the second so I can screw the stud to the left. So the stud will thread out, is that correct? I’ll find thread in there and just rethread a new longer bolt?
