CB750-A Can I get smaller rear sprocket?

barnstormer44
I have a CB 750-A.  Is it because my other bikes are Harley and 72 Triumph are so low RPM, that the the engine speed sounds like she is going to blow up or what?  At highway speed it sure seems like I am truning up too much RPM's.  Can I get a smaller rear sprocket and or a bigger counter sprocket??   If so where?  Thanks for any info.

Hi there Barnstormer. Yes you can get  smaller sprockets for your Honda. Also you may need to shorten the chain. Got to www.jtsprockets.com list your bike and they will come up with the three different type of sprockets available. What size rear sprocket are you currently runing . I`m willing to bet its a  44 toothed sprocket - hence the high RPM. A 38 or 40 tooth sprocket is just perfect for that motor. Anything smalle than a 38 and you will be battling to get off the mark and will be constantly changing gears. I went from a 44 to a 40 and found that it dropped my RPM by a 1000 at 100 -130 Kmh ( 60- 80 MPH in your country )

Hey Gone,  that's just what info I was looking for.   Thank you so much for your note.   Any thoughts about the collectable value of the 750-A as I think O'l mister Honda only made them for a few years??
Thanks again, Dennis

Can you send me a picture of the A as we in Australia only ever got the CB750K and the F so cant say I have ever seen the A model. By all means change your rear sprocket - you didnt mention what size it was. Its stamped on the face of the sprocket in two places, so you cant miss it. Except you have to get down on you hands and knees with the bike on the main stand and rotate the rear whee until you see the numbers stamped on the sprocket. Hope that is of some help.

Yes I will find out what size the spocket is, haven't had a chance lately.  I can send you a pic or two but the only differance engine wise is that the torque converter on the right side by your foot rest sticks out a bit and has air vents in it for cooling, and it has NO hand clutch.  It's a wierd deal, I was just wondering if it had more collecter value as Honda only made them for a few years.  It's great around town, especialy if you are a novice biker.  I just got it because it was cheep and a novitly, and when it is hot weather here, I would just as soon NOT run the Sporty or the Triumph (cast iron cylinder), they don't seam to like it as well as cool temps.    D
