Really? You can change the wheels? But doesn't that involve some of that....what's it called?.....work? lol
Just kidding. I've been thinking of picking up a runner, and then a spare frame and engine and starting ground up, then moving over all the hard to find parts just before it's ready, when that's all thats left.

Yeah, checked the online pricing guides, like NADA etc…they list the bike as $1700 in concourse condition. Due to the V&H pipes and the CR carbs, that's no longer the case, so the next price category down is listed at $900. (likely he can get much more just due to the overall good condition, but it looks like only originals with all original parts should be getting his asking price…thanks for the pointer, it made me check on the values)

Kelly Blue Book says $1290 in excellent condition.

Looks like I have some bargaining power here. :)

You can not go by those pricing guides. Unless it is a fairly new vehicle. All that matters is how much they want, for it, and how much, you are willing to pay, for it.

They're that bad? I wouldn't low ball a seller anyway. If I like what I see in the condition etc, and the price isn't too bad, I'll make an offer, and if he doesn't go for it and it's a bike I really want, I'll pay his price. It's not like an expensive corvette! Like someone on here pointed out…it's the price of a decent riding lawnmower! lol

Finally had a chance to call him, he's still got it, someone is looking at it tonight, and if they don't buy it, I've got the next shot at it. It looks like it will make a nice base for my project, or something to ride while I look for a frame and engine to start a project. I kind of like the idea of doing a cafe from the ground up, just like my camaro was done. They look a whole lot nicer.
He's had two people show up with no cash offers, but insisting they wanted it. I'll show up with cash and make an offer. (if i like it)
