CLEAN HEADS... TO PAINT OR NOT TO PAINT...

dave Esch
I am reassembling my heads that were just sandblasted. I think they look good as they are. My concern is corrosion. I wouldn't mind them black, but really just want to get the thing put together and get it running again. Does anyone know how fast this alluminum will corrode after being sandblasted? Is engine paint necessary?

Without protection, you will be doing a lot of cleaning to keep the corrosion off.
If you like the look, try to find some high temp clear coat in your area. Spray it on good and let it cure and you should be good for years.
