Cables & Lines

This post was updated on .
Right now I am working on putting on a new set of handlebars. I've got the handlebars on but now see that because the rise of these handlebars is so much less than the stock bars, that my cables are now too long. My throttle is sticking and clutch is hard, etc. Can anyone tell me if there is a solution to this using the stock cables or is there some place I can buy custom length cables from. This also applies to my front brake line from the master cylinder.

A hydraulic shop can make a new brake line or you can go to helusa.com and they can custom make one too for about $50 range. Cables are a bit different. Usually changing the routing will do the trick or lubing the cables. Otherwise, you might be able to see if there is a shop in the area that might make custom cables or you could try contacting motion pro about cables.

My 75 CB 750K had Clubman bars when I bought it but my back wouldn't take it. I put a new set of higher than stock bars on so I ordered a custom steel braded brake line for about $60, clutch cable and throttle cables. Funny thing is, I did some measuring and throttle cables off a 2009 new Shadow fit perfect. About $14 each. I just got them all at my Honda dealer to make sure they were right.
