I am installing 12 in. ape hangers on my 1980 750k. Any advice on where or how to lengthen the cables? Local bike shop wants $600 for cables! Any advice is appreciated.

Tommy Summers , lowridertommy.com, I think, sent me a set of long cables for my old chopper. 14" over stock, iirc. Both cables were $45. Worked great. I had about the same size bars.

Thanks shinyribs. I'll check into it. Any advice on starter button wiring? Can i splice these wires and lengthen them? Thanks again for the contact.

I would go to Cycle-X myself. As for splicing the wires, no problem. Just use a good connector, or solder, and shrink wrap the connections.

Thanks for all the advice guys. I have another question. Do i have to use two cables on the throttle? I was thinking about cleaning up the handle bars and going with a cleaner looking throttle and move the starter switch. Thanks to everyone who has helped. Your advice has helped me big time!

You only need one. I have often wondered why they have the other cable myself. The only thing I can think of, is a safety to close the throttle.

Hey guys
I have a small "hiccup" on my 3rd cylinder. Kind of a very very soft backfire. I haven't checked the timing yet. I have replaced all jets since the bike sat for several years. Runs great except for the little cough. Any suggestions where to start looking? Thanks

Thanks Tools I brokedown the carbs and replaced the insulators between the carbs and each head and also replaced the spark plugs. I'll put in new plug wires and see what happens. Thanks again

Try swapping the plugs, and wires between the cylinders, and see if the cough moves.
