I'm thinking they are around 30-33 mm with vacuum diaphram pistons and slinky type springs with the needle jets. The carb top caps are sort of square with 4 screws and about 2 1/2" across. They are much different than the SOHC 750 I have. I know, bad description but I'm thinking he could try the stock 105's, if not, get some 115, 125's and just play with it. The 85 700 Maxim X is an in-line 4, DOHC water cooled. Kind of an odd ball but looks like it would be a good bike.
