Carb swap

Dougie
So I'm possibly looking to do a carb swap on my 81 750.. I'm sure this topic has been discussed but I'm looking to switch the stock keihin's with some gs 750's or possible 1100's. I'm not to sure if the dimensions are the same or not for mounting, separation distance etc. Please help..
The reason I'm doing the swap is so I can run my pods smoother. Can someone also explain why these GS mukini carbs run better with pods?

Again please help. Thanks

I have no idea why, but they just do. 30 years of technology? Flat slides? Different slide lift mechanism?

I just did this swap on my '80. Very few miles on the completed setup (less than 100) but it's looking promising so far. Many other guys have done this swap with lasting success.

You can check it out here. Stay tuned for updates.

Thanks for your reply.
So you swapped gs 750's? How much difficulty were they to mount?

Mine were off an 1100. Easy to mount. Click the yellow "here" in my other post. It's a link to the thread.

Lol. Sorry, I didn't completely read your either, it seems.

130 main. 32.5 pilot. Stock needle. Idle mixture 2 turns from seated. Float at 14.2mm

These are susceptible to float height changes. Not just for flooding, it'll actually affect your "jetting", if you follow.  But I'm still tuning. None of that is in stone yet.

What about the throttle cable? Is there the push/pull cables or just one?.. Sorry for the many questions, this is my first re-build. :)
