Probably about right. However, you could buy a set of gauges, and sync them several times yourself, for $80.00.

I went to the closest shop,one that work on these bad boys,they had A 750-4 on the floor for sale and ask who did the work ,THey did,had keytop carbs ,So ask "hey what ya charge to sync my carb on A F2 " ,He didn 't even think of it said "35.buck should take but 20min.or so,I said cool cause the tool will cost around 50, I havn't taken it to him yet (plan on them doing more since they do the state inspection one trip.,but gives us an Idea on $.,AT 150.00 bucks that 450.00 buck an hr. compared to Don N Sons Cycles,LLC in Springfield,Mo(417-863-0006) give them a ring just to let ya know the other guys are trying to

$85.00 If it is ready to sync. Just about i hour. Without the customer.
Remember the gas tank needs to be removed.
An alternative fuel system needs to be attached.
The 4 screws for the intake ports must be removed.
The brass tubes for the sync instrument must be attached.
It need to be warmed up.
The 3 carb tops must be removed if it is a 77-78 model.
And the 3 nuts loosened in the linkage.
Turn on fan to cool the engine.
Then the sync adjustment can be performed.
Then the disconnecting of the instrument.
and re -installation of the 4 screws on the intakes
Linkage nuts tightened.
Carb tops reinstalled.
Disconnect the fuel system.
Re install the customer gas tank and hose.
Cost of the gas????

Like so much else, it's worth somewhere around what you're willing to pay and what the other guy is willing to sell his time for.
There is no way I could get a mechanic around here to even look at my bike for anything less than $150. That's because they have a backlog of nearly new Ducati's to work on and honestly don't need my business.
Supply and demand.
Like the price of the bikes themselves, the cost for service will vary significantly by where you are located.

Your right See's ,there a small family shop nothing fancey but in business for long time my family has been going therre a lot when need to.We do most are own work . I've not myself,were your at everthing $$$$$?
Gas here filled up today at 3.45 in truck ,prem high oct. 4.89 at "66",

I rebuilt the carbs because it wouldn't idle without full choke. However I don't know about buying gauges and attempting to synch them myself as I have never attempted or seen it done. Thanks for the prices guys, il check around for a better price. I had heard from several people that this "digital tuning" place was the best around but apparently their prices are not.

It is possible to bench sync your carbs to get them close. I spent a fair amount of time bench syncing my carbs before I put them on the bike and bought a morgan carbtune to sync them once I got them back on. I must have done a good job bench syncing or got really lucky because my carbs were sync'd perfectly. The carbtune did nothing other than tell me I had nailed it on the bench. Ha, you live in the states. Don't talk to me about gas prices. We pay $1.25/litre for 87 octane. That is $5/gallon if I remember the conversion right. If, you can rebuild the carbs, you can sync them! It is easier to sync them then it is to rebuild them!

You won't be getting any "digital" tuning.
It is a carbed bike 33 years old.
Those kids know nothing about it.
You can buy the sync gauges for about $80.00
I like the round ones with a needle like a speedometer.
I had the Motion Pro ones with the fluid and they were awful.
Had to be calibrated each time. Got bubbles in the fluid. Could suck fluid into the carbs.
Here is how it works.
You take the gas tank off of your bike and put it on a nearby table.
Then hook it to the motorcycle engine.
Next you remove the four vacuum screw on the intake manifold.
You screw in four brass tubes into those holes to accept the rubber hoses from the gauges.
Start it up with a fan blowing on the engine and let it fully warm up.
Then adjust all of the carbs carb slide height so that all of the gauges match the #2 carb.
You are done.
All other mixture screw adjustments and float levels valve adjustment,
timing chain slack, and every thing else must be done FIRST!!!

I bought a 2-gauge set off of EBay for about $40. Here is the link to what I bought.Mine came with adjustable in-line restrictors, which served to damp down the needles a little, but not so much as to impede the vacuum. Luckily, my Shadow has a reserve tank, so I waited until the RESERVE light came on, pulled the tank, pulled the screws going to the sync ports, hooked up the brass tubes, connected the gauges, and 20 minutes later it was dialed in. Pull the tubes, screw screws back in, put the tank back on, and road test.
Remember to check the sync at idle, part throttle (2-3K rpm), and higher (5-6K rpm). You're looking for a good overall sync reading in different areas. It's a balance/compromise.
Picked up a few more miles per gallon, the deep thrum on deceleration is back, and the bike accelerates and runs better.
Granted, mine is a v-twin, and the inline 4 will take a bit longer, but it's worth it.

My local Kawasaki dealership, which also specializes in older bikes all around, charged me $116 to sync my carbs last time.
Now I'm just going to make my own carb sync tool. I watched that kit go up $30 in price in under 2 months. I'm not paying that price when I can make one for under $20.
