Carbs and inexperience

CBShannon
I have an 82 cb750f supersport that I am trying to moderately restore and I am now working on the carbs and cleaning them up. I am a novice but I would liike to think I have a good mechanical aptitude, but I am wondering about taking the carbs apart for cleaning as to whether or not I should do this given my skill level. The bike was actually running pretty decent when I started, so I just want to clean them a bit and get them looking good. I am a little apprehensive about taking them apart as I have learned tuning on them can be a pain. Should I just take them somewhere to have them cleaned or attempt myself? Any tips or info are appreciated.

If the bike runs good now, then do not pull them apart. Just remove the jets and spray carb cleaner though all the passageways and make sure all the jets are clean by visual exam.
The ride IS the adventure. The destination is just to get gas!

I would try and run some Sea Foam through the fuel system. Make sure you read the directions. If your bike runs ok now I wouldn't go through the hassle of taken them off, tearing down and maybe messen up. You may want to run the Sea Foam through a few times.
