Cdi/spark units

Can a cb run with out the cdi or spark unit?
I just bought a bike and I'm not finding either?
I'm re wiring it, can I have spark with out them?!

They create the spark -- either they do, or the points system does.  Check the usual parts sources, listed on the home page of this site, as well as BikeBandit.com (tends to be higher priced, but usually a good source of available parts).  Otherwise, there are aftermarket set-up's you can order, which are more modern, but pricey.  Cheers!
