Charging Problem

samdsalk
I have a 1980 CB750 Custom... the thing wont charge.  I can hook it up to a trickle and ride for a few days but the the battery dies eventually and it won't start.  Any ideas?

Thanks!

The charging system on these bikes is kinda weak. The rotor i think commonly goes bad but before you throw parts at it, check the wiring and make sure the connectors are actually making connection. They can look good but actually not be.
The ride IS the adventure. The destination is just to get gas!

I just got thru looking at mine - doing the same thing.  I had some corroded plug contacts, then we found the 30amp "fuse" was barely there.  We "temporarily" bypassed the fuse with a wire and it seems OK now - except that I think my almost new battery is a casulty of all this.

I "lost" a 4-10 month old battery last year [had it 10 months but the bike was in storage for 6 of them]
