**Clubman Handle Bars** HELP NEEDED

blk72750
I'm at my wits end trying to reconnect these cables after installing the clubmans. Anyone got any good tips for me. Im not trying to rout them inside the bars. I got the clutch cable on, but the throttle cables seem to be to short.

After looking at the picture of your bike again, I wonder who routed the cables on it. They are supposed to go in behind the gauges not under the headlight.

On mine i routed the throttle cables out of the front of the throttle control, outside the right fork, under the lower triple clamp, back inside the left fork and then to the carbs along the frame like stock. The clutch cable went outside the left fork, under the gauges, between the upper and lower triple clamps and then along the frame like stock. I had a hard time re-routing mine due to excessive length. It seems odd that yours are too short. Hope this helps

It looks like it should go on. However your routing is not very good. They should go over, or under the headlight bracket between the forks, and straight down the back bone. Passing through the frame brace going to the two tubs beside the backbone.

I know thats what I tried to do at first, when I mounted the new handle bars. I thought I would go ahead and do that after reading post on this site and other forums. but I just cant get this cable to go back into place, it was so easy to come off.

Tools is right. You really need to get your cables at least on top of the lower triple clamp. Mine are below the clamp, but your bars seem like they dont drop as far as mine. Mine run under, but are strapped up. If you route them that way you will have more length to play with. The cables are quite hard to get in their notches sometimes. Try hooking up the lower cable and then the upper. Its how i did mine. My fingers were too fat so I had to use some long needle nosers. Good luck man

Is it possible you have the cables going to the wrong places on the carb assembly?  One is a pull to rev up, the other goes on the other side, and pulls to rev down.  I'm sure you've checked that already, but you never know.

The other alternative may be to loosen the jam nut on that side, scoot the jacket back as far as you can, and then see if it fits.  On mine, I had to put the jacket in place, actuate the carbs to full throttle, then put the cable end in the fitting.  It gets tricky putting the return cable in place, though.

They will fit.  Take a break and look at it again.
