Clutch adjustment

jamman18
I am adjusting the clutch on my 77 cb750 supersport. I would like to know if when doing this, does turning the clutch adjusting screw in a clockwise or counterclockwise direction put more pressure on the clutch to disengage?  I followed the directions in the manual to turn clockwise until a resistence is felt and then backed off 1/2 turn. If the clutch is still not totally disengaging, should I turn it more clockwise or counter?

Thanks for the help!

Check this link out.  Good general explaning of what your trying to do.

Also, if you have maxed out the clutch adjustment nuts on both the handlebar and clutch case, you'll need to go and adjust the clutch arm which is inside the case.

I did this procedure but I think it will take a bit more tweaking as it doesn't like to go into neutral really well right now....

Did a little more adjusting at the lever and it seems to be ok now!

Something to think about when venturing into adjustment land:

Try to have a baseline, to put it back to, before you start.  That way you can go back to where it was just in case it gets so far out of whack.  My dad taught me how to tune carbs on his old VW bus.  Turning mixture and idle air speed screws a 1/4 turn at a time.

These days, cameras on phones make this pretty easy.
