Custom oil tank setup.

Bikedane
Hi All.

New to this forum and need desperate help.
So I got a 1975 cb750K that I spend 15 month rebuilding.
Obviously way over budget.
I made a custom oil tank to fit under the tail.
I have two lines running to the oil supply and return on the engine.
I got a separate hose from crankcase valve running alongside my swing arm.
I have a vent filler cap that of course is spitting oil all over the bike.
There are a lot of various opinions out there how the setup should be.

One is to not have a vent filler cap and run a breather line to the crankcase valve and leave the valve cover breather alone and that should fix the problem.

Or should I still have a separate breather line from the oil tank?

Any advice

I would go with this one "One is to not have a vent filler cap and run a breather line to the crankcase valve and leave the valve cover breather alone and that should fix the problem. " You might want to check out Shiny's Hackjob build thread. He made his own oil tank.

Oh geez, the thread for that bike is a mess. If you search Hackjob on this forum it will take you to the thread, but I'm not sure where in the thread the oil tank is. Probably pretty close to the end.

But yeah, whatever you use for a vent on the tank, just shoot it back to the crankcase so it can recirculate without making a mess.

The oil in those tanks really flow through rather quickly. An open-air breather just don't work too good.
