Customizing a 2001 nighthawk into a 1970s looking CB750

Hi,

This is an idea for a project that I've had for the last years, I wanted to ask if anyone tried this before. I am about to purchase a 2001 honda nighthawk, and I was wondering if it would be possible to substitute its tank and seat for a tank and a seat from a 1978 CB750 to make the bike look more classy. I love the  1970s  CB750 but I can't barely find any for sale in decent condition where I live . Any thoughts on this will be appreciated.

Well it is possible I suppose. Do you have a bike boneyard in your area? If anything, maybe you could get the length of the tank from mount to mount and the width of the front mounts. Once you have that, you can check your bike and see how it lines up.

Now for the seat, the 78 seat opens on the right with hinges on the left.
