If I were going to hit someone up for a loan it would be for something more important like. http://kansascity.craigslist.org/mcy/3978695942.html Or to get the Toolmatic back up, and running.

You're not seeing the big picture Boss. I loan you $600 and you buy that yellow bike. Absolutely ZERO cash outlay on your end. You put a couple weeks and a few dollars into getting it ready and flip it for a fat profit. Pure profit to you with no cash out of pocket. Return my money with a small smidgen of ''appreciation'' and we got ourselves what you call a WIN-WIN.
You get the yellow bike for ''free'' and turn that time into pure profit. In turn you could either use that cash to fix the Matic or go pick up that 350. Basically for free since you didn't have to pay up initially. And I make a couple bucks with zero time or effort invested. WIN-WIN.
You don't think I make all my money by wrangling heat pumps,do you?!? How do you think QwikTime got on it's feet?
Welcome to Shinyrib's Lending & Loans Co. How can I help you today?
That's a sweet little CB350 there. I could make your dreams come true.

Two things wrong with your plan. First, I do not have time, money, or room to get the bikes I already have done. Second, that's about what bikes sell for here in KC. There are nice bikes (CB 750s) on CL that have been on there for months, and have not sold. There is a low mileage DOHC that they can't even get $1,200 for. A totally rebuilt (with High performance parts) F-3 that can't sell for $2,500 and the guy has $6,000 in receipts.

I hear ya man. And I figured you'd say that. Sucks that they sell so cheap around there. Doesn't leave anywhere to make any money!
There was an ex-racer 68 Nova for sale around here a few years back. Couple guys wanted it but couldn't scrounge up the cash to buy it. So I scooped it up and owner financed it to one of the guys. Seller was asking $3500 and I scooped it up for $2800. Of course, I had already talked to my buyer before I shelled out the cash. Financed it to him for $3800. He thought I was only clearing $300, but that's beside the point. Deal was he got the title when I got paid in full. He could start working on the car, but if I didn't get my $500 /month id come get the car. Nonrefundable. They always pay. Always. Which kinda sucks...wish I could sell them twice if some guys would flake on their end.LOL. Banks don't like to finance stuff like that and some guys just need help at times. Works out good for everybody in the end. Always made friends over these deals, never had one go south yet.
But, what I was talking about before (with interest) is the money making deal. I thought you wanted the bike to flip it. If you want it for a keeper,well...that would be on the buddy system then. And you know how that works ;) Offer still stands bud.

My only keepers are matics! I have two Ks, and one F that I was hoping to flip, but like I said time, money, and room to work. I am, so limited in my 1 1/2 car garage. If I have a bike on the lift, and need to wait on parts (all the time) I can not do anything else, or if the bike is apart, and I take it off the lift I can not leave it in the weather. I have been trying to get a larger shop, but do not have the budget for it yet. Right now I have three customer bikes to work on, and another coming today. And Another two waiting for my schedule to open up.

The 78 engine was the best of all.

Honda changed the valve keepers in the 78 engine. They use the crapy keepers from the F engines, and have their own valves. The valves are impossible to find, so the only way to repair valves is to replace them with earlier valves, and keepers. I think the 77 was the best engine myself.

Fix up a dozen of them, trailer them to FL, and sell them for $2500 to $3500 a pop. NON running junk goes for $1500-2000 down here!

Wonder how much Shiney has to invest? ![](/images/smiley/smiley_thinking.gif) I know I could easily pick up 10 cool old bikes priced under $1,000 right now.

$10k? Haha. Can't stretch that far buddy. I got a little over 7 out there now.
Mark is right, though. Jap stuff wasn't bringing the money that Brit bikes were, but I did see dozens of non running $2k bikes myself. Complete project bikes bring big money at those types of events, it seems, but parts go super cheap. Hell, I bought two racks of carbs for $25. I picked up a bunch of stuff at Ohio just now. Got a nice 750 front hub with speedo drive and rotor for $10. Some guys just have boxes of stuff that they don't know what it fits. If you can spot your own parts you can score big.
I passed up a complete rolling CB 750 ex drag bike for $300. Tins and all. Slot in an engine and fresh tires and would've been ready to rock. Figured the market for that was pretty limited, though.

I'm hoping to get a bunch of stuff for my cafe project at Barber this year. Frame, engine, tank, forks, dual brake forks, triple tree, rims and/or tires, speedo drive ( my current ride speedo bounces all the time, I honestly don't know how fast it's going) etc. I'll pack it up and ship it home if I find good deals. I have a two bed hotel room reserved, so If I find someone going up there that wants to share, I'll have even more money to spend on parts. :)

All of the SOHC forks are dual brake forks. Keep an eye out on the date codes of any tires you see for sale out there. I saw a bunch of good deals, but they were all old tires they were blowing out cheap. IIRC the newest I found was 3 years old.

Florida prices seem to be pretty much what Ontario prices are. I notice extreme seasonality though. Bikes are super expensive in Spring, then go down a bit during the summer, and there are always great deals to be had in the late fall/early winter. Bikes don't tend to get listed during the dead of winter.
If there weren't import taxes and I had a decent storage location I would seriously think about getting a bunch of bikes shipped up from where they're cheap.

I don't think they are considered better, but they do seem to bring more money if they are set up right.
Easy, never put the beaner on the outside. Keep it hidden so they think you're broke. ![](/images/smiley/smiley_wink.gif) Don't reveal it until the end.
