It's in alright shape, but we have heavy rust on the exhaust, heavily damaged tank, fenders, broken levers, failing pegs, etc...
I'm thinking I'll fix up the tank, front and rear fenders, and battery covers, and paint them a nice Candy Apple Red Mica, the same colour I painted my Datsun.
The exhaust will be sanded up and painted a flat gray, unless I can polish it back to health. The entirety of the engine will be painted flat black. I'll do stainless steel screws, and pretty much just leave the top cover polished chrome.
The rims will go a combination of flat black and Candy Red, Levers will go chrome, pegs will go chrome, etc...
So basically, most of the bike will go Red, with the Valve Cover, forks, and levers chrome. The rest will go black or gray, depending. That stuff will be rattle canned, so I'll see what looks best in each colour.
Badges will go Pewter Mica (the rims on the Datsun, more or less).
You don't see many bikes with painted fenders, I think I have a chance to have a really cool, unique looking bike. Perfectly factory, aside from paint.
As far as the bike, I'm into it for $2200, 40,000km, new chain, sprockets, transmission, plugs, wires, brakes, tires, brake lines, I'm mostly done restoring the mechanical.
What do we think?
*Budget is $250, I'm a finisher by trade, so it's basically the cost of paint and pegs.
