Carburetor and electrical are two totally different things, so that would not have anything to do with it. The small lead that goes to the battery looks like the terminal to a battery tender lead. As for the bike losing power, is the whole bike dead (no lights, horn...) or does it not have spark? Both of these situations would be diagnosed differently.
