Engine overhaul

blurat
Hi.
Got a 81 k and the motor is frozen. Free bike so I figured I will at least check out why and maybe rebuild it. Very nice looking piece of machinery.
I have removed the exhaust, and several small aluminum pieces, removed the chain etc.
Now, do I remove the carb setup and how do you get the cable off? Alternator or just unplug?
I am at the point where I dont want to get into extra steps.
 Thanks

If you are referring to the accelorator cables - there are two of them , the cables are held in place with a pin that slides into place whe you install the cables and when removing make sure you undo the lock nuts where the throttle cables are connected to the the throttle body, then slide the cable down wards and turn them 90 Degrees and you will see the pin that holds them in place. Just remove them and leave them hanging there. The alternator cable runs from the alternator through the frame, and comes out under the left side cover where the main fuse is housed, and there are three wiring looms that connect to each other . One of them is the alternator cable . Suggest you put a label on each of the three sets of cables other wise you run the risk of connecting them up the wrong way. I know - talk from first hand experience.
